3 Homemade Mother’s Day Gifts to Help Your Mom Relax

Nothing says, “I love you, mom!” like a Mother’s Day gift that you made yourself—and makes her feel like a million bucks.

With most moms sheltering in place this year, it’s hard to think of a better, more convenient gift than one that helps relieve her stress and anxiety by transforming her bathroom into a relaxing, stay-at-home spa.

Here are three easy recipes you can use to create a soothing, mindful present for your mom and let her know just how special she is.

The best part? You only need a few ingredients (that you probably already have in your kitchen cupboard).

Make-It-Yourself Body Scrub

Ingredients

  • ½ cup sugar
  • ⅓ cup olive oil
  • 10-15 drops Forest Remedies essential oil*

Combine sugar, olive oil and essential oil in a bowl and mix well. Transfer to a Mason jar or other airtight storage container.

*To promote relaxation, we suggest using our lavender essential oil. To create a spa-like atmosphere, try peppermint and eucalyptus.

Sugar dissolves very quickly in water. If you’d like your scrub to last longer, simply substitute sugar with salt.

Running low on olive oil?
No problem. For this recipe (and those below), feel free to substitute and/or experiment with other plant-derived oils commonly found in the kitchen—like sunflower, avocado, peanut, soybean, sweet almond or canola.

Make-It-Yourself Bath Salt

Ingredients (for 1 bath)

  • ¼ cup Epsom salt
  • ¼ cup sea salt
  • 1 tsp olive oil
  • 3 drops Forest Remedies essential oil*

Stir the salts, olive oil and essential oil together in a mixing bowl. Transfer to a Mason jar or other airtight storage container.

*Suggested essential oil combinations: Try orange with lavender. Or lavender with frankincense. Please read your essential oil labels for dilution ratio.

Make-It-Yourself Scalp Massage Blend

Ingredients (for 1 massage)

  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 6 drops Forest Remedies essential oil*

Drop olive oil and essential oil into a small bottle with a lid and shake vigorously.

*Suggested essential oil combinations: Try peppermint and tea tree. Rosemary and lavender. Or peppermint and eucalyptus.
