Frequently Asked Questions
What is Ahiflower and where does the oil come from?
Ahiflower is an oilseed crop and plant native to the English countryside. The plant, which is a small annual or biennial herb in the Boraginaceae (Borage) family, is officially known as Buglossoides arvensis. The Ahiflower Oil in our products comes from the seeds of non-GMO, proprietary varieties of the plant that have been registered and protected under EU and US Plant Variety Protection legislation.
These seeds have a natural omega-rich oil content. To produce the high-quality oil in our supplements, the seeds are first crushed, and the raw oil is extracted. From there, the oil is lightly refined and filtered to produce Ahiflower Oil.
What essential fatty acids are in Ahiflower? Does it contain EPA and DHA?
Ahiflower offers a rich single-plant source of Omega 3 ALA (alpha-linolenic acid) and SDA (stearidonic acid); Omega 6 GLA (gamma linolenic acid) and LA (linoleic acid); and Omega 9 OA (oleic acid).
What makes Ahiflower especially unique is that it contains the highest level of naturally-occurring SDA (18 - 20%) found in any commercially available dietary plant oil.
Your body converts SDA directly to EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid), the other main Omega 3 essential fatty acid. With ALA your body has to first convert it to SDA and then EPA. As a result, SDA from Ahiflower results in higher levels of EPA in the body than consuming ALA from flaxseed.*

How is this Multi Omega 3-6-9 formula different from your Elderberry Immune + Multi Omega 3-6-9 formula?
If you're looking for a high-quality source of vegan Omega essential fatty acids to supplement your diet, try our Multi Omega 3-6-9 formula. It includes a complete and balanced blend of vegan Omega 3, 6, and 9 fatty acids to support heart, brain, skin, and joint health - all from a single plant.
Ahiflower contains more and healthier Omegas than any plant source. This is because it contains high amounts of the lesser-known Omega 3 essential fatty acid SDA (stearidonic acid) which your body can use up to 4X more efficiently than Omega 3 ALA (alpha-linolenic acid) found in flax, chia, hemp, and other plant and seed oils. Our Multi Omega formula is different from our Elderberry Immune + Multi Omega 3, 6, and 9 formula, because it does not include elderberry extract for immune health.* With our Elderberry Immune formula you still get a high-quality source of vegan Omegas, but the amount of Ahiflower we include is not as high as what's in our straight Multi Omega formula available as both soft gels and gummies.
Is this formula safe for people with allergies?
Our Multi Omega 3-6-9 with Ahiflower supplements are manufactured in an allergen-free facility, and all formulas are free of the following: gluten, fish, shellfish, eggs, peanuts, soy, milk, nuts, celery, mustard, sesame seeds, sunflower seeds, poppy seed, flax seed, coriander, carrot, pepper, glutamate, capsicum, aniseed, dill, fennel, parsley and curry. In addition to this, no allergic reactions have been reported in connection with Ahiflower Oil or with the plant source (Buglossoides arvensis). Protein levels are reduced to such a low level during the refining process that even if unknown allergens were present, it is extremely unlikely that they could provide a reaction.
