Frequently Asked Questions

What happened to your online store? Where can I buy Forest Remedies products?

In September 2022 we discontinued our online store to focus on meeting our customers at the places they shop the most. You can shop on our Amazon Store or go to the Store Locator.

Is your packaging really plastic free? Is it recyclable?

Yes, it is 100% plastic-free packaging. Instead of traditional plastic bottles, our eco-friendly packaging tubes are made in the USA from recycled paperboard and the inner bag from wood cellulose fibers. It may look like plastic, but this bag is made from wood sourced exclusively using sustainable forestry principles. The tube is recyclable and compostable, and the inner bag is compostable and biodegradable (90% within 6 months).

How do Forest Remedies Multi Omega Ahiflower Oil supplements compare to supplements made with flaxseed oil?

Most plant-sourced Omega fatty acids contain Omega 3 ALA (alpha-linolenic acid) and Omega 6 LA (Linoleic acid). Few contain Omega 6 GLA (Gamma-linolenic acid ) in meaningful quantities. Even fewer contain any Omega 3 SDA (stearidonic acid). Our Multi Omega 3-6-9 with Ahiflower Oil supplements are unique because they contains ALL of these components.

By containing high amounts of SDA, Ahiflower is able to convert more efficiently to Omega 3 EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) in the body, compared to flax and other oils that primarily supply ALA. With Ahiflower  you get more and healthier Omegas than any other plant source.*

Which Omega fatty acids are in your Ahiflower supplements? Do they contain EPA and DHA?

Our new vegan Multi Omega 3-6-9 supplements offer a rich source of Omega 3 ALA (alpha-linolenic acid) and SDA (stearidonic acid); Omega 6 GLA (gamma linolenic acid) and LA (linoleic acid); and Omega 9 OA (oleic acid) - all from a single plant.

Ahiflower is unique in that it contains 18 - 20% SDA, the highest level of naturally-occurring SDA found in any commercially available dietary plant oil.

Your body converts SDA directly to EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid), the other main Omega 3 essential fatty acid. With ALA your body has to first convert it to SDA and then EPA. As a result, SDA from Ahiflower results in higher levels of EPA in the body than consuming ALA from flaxseed.*

How do your Multi Omega supplements compare to marine Omega sources like fish, krill and algal oil?

Our Multi Omega 3-6-9 supplements deliver a premium vegan source of Omega 3, 6 and 9 fatty acids from Ahiflower Oil. It contains Omega 3 ALA (alpha-linolenic acid) and SDA (stearidonic acid); Omega 6 GLA (gamma linolenic acid) and LA (linoleic acid); and Omega 9 OA (oleic acid).

Fish, krill, and algal oil (from marine algae) all contain Omega 3 EPA and/or DHA essential fatty acids. Ahiflower does not, but it contains Omega 6 GLA, which is known for its anti-inflammatory cellular benefits.* It also contains high levels of Omega 3 SDA which enables your body to more efficiently convert ALA to EPA and DHA than any other plant or seed oil.

Are your vegan Multi Omega supplements safe for people with allergies?

Our products are manufactured in an allergen-free facility, and all formulas are free of the following: gluten, fish, shellfish, eggs, peanuts, soy, milk, nuts, celery, mustard, sesame seeds, sunflower seeds, poppy seed, flax seed, coriander, carrot, pepper, glutamate, capsicum, aniseed, dill, fennel, parsley and curry.

In addition to this, no allergic reactions have been reported in connection with Ahiflower Oil or with the plant source (Buglossoides arvensis). Protein levels are reduced to such a low level during the refining process that even if unknown allergens were present, it is extremely unlikely that they could provide a reaction.

How are your supplements manufactured? Are they third-party tested?

Our supplements are made in an allergen-free and c-GMP compliant facility. Being c-GMP (Current Good Manufacturing Practice) compliant means this facility adheres to the industry’s strictest standards for manufacturing enforced by the FDA. It also ensures the strength, quality, and purity of our products.

In addition to this, all products are third-party lab tested for quality assurance. See for yourself by viewing the Certificates of Analysis on our website.

What's the difference between your Multi Omega Gummies and Multi Omega Soft Gels?

Both our gummies and soft gels deliver a premium vegan source of Omega 3, 6, and 9 fatty acids from Ahiflower Oil. We use 100% plant-based, non-GMO, allergen-friendly and gluten-free ingredients in both our gummies and soft gels.

Our gummies are extra delicious and offer a fun and flavorful way to add more Omegas into your everyday routine. They are gelatin-free. No synthetic colors, artificial flavor or artificial sweeteners.

The soft gels are sugar-free, flavorless and easy-to-swallow. Because of the nature of soft gels, we're also able to include a higher amount of Ahiflower Oil in every soft gel, but both formats deliver a premium source of Omega 3, 6, and 9 fatty acids.

What is Ahiflower? Where does the oil come from?

Ahiflower is a small flowering plant native to the English countryside. The oil comes from the seeds of non-GMO, proprietary varieties of the plant that have been registered and protected under EU and US Plant Variety Protection legislation.

To create the high-quality oil in our supplements, the seeds are first crushed, and the raw, naturally Omega-rich oil is extracted. From there the oil is lightly refined and filtered to produce Ahiflower Oil.

Where is Ahiflower grown? Is it traceable?

Yes. All Ahiflower crops are grown exclusively in the United Kingdom by a network of independent farmers who have worked for many years to learn how to grow this crop reliably with minimal inputs and using regenerative farming practices. These practices include:

Maximizing and measuring soil microbial and pollinator biodiversity Returning more organic fertility (e.g. from composted manures and silage) than is taken up by the crop Leaving roots in place and minimizing tillage Practicing multi-year crop rotations

Together these practices help improve the resilience, fertility, and health of the rural farmland ecosystems in which Ahiflower is grown. Because the crops are grown only in the UK by elite farmers whose ability to document their farming protocols on their fields is unmatched around the world, every year’s Ahiflower harvests are traceable back to the specially selected Ahiflower varieties, fields, and farms on which they were grown.

As a result, every batch of Ahiflower Oil is documented and traceable to its source farms and regions in the UK. The dominant omega-rich oils like flax, hemp, evening primrose, and borage are generally commodified oils produced all over the world and combined in such a way that traceability is lost.

Have any human clinical studies been done on Ahiflower Oil?

Yes. Two clinical trials have been conducted so far, and a third is underway. These studies verified that Ahiflower is up to four times more effective than flaxseed oil as a source of Omega-3.

What are the health benefits of Omega 3 and 6 fatty acids?

The health benefits of Omega 3 and 6 essential fatty acids are well documented and accepted worldwide. They are essential to help your body function and thrive and support your brain, heart, skin, and joint health.*

Since the body does not make these nutrients, and they are an essential part of cellular functioning, they have to come from the diet. Nutritional scientists and formulators regularly include Omega 3 and Omega 6 fatty acids in dietary supplements and functional foods/beverages as a way to improve recommended daily intakes of these essential fatty acids. We always recommend eating a healthy and balanced diet. Taking supplements can help fill any nutritional gaps.*
